Bob Laughna Named Head Coach For Deaflympic Games
MARQUETTE, Mich. – United States Deaf Swimming announces Bob Laughna has been chosen as the head coach for the 2009 Deaflympic Games in Taipei, Taiwan. The event will take place from Sept. 5-15, 2009. Laughna has been associated with the Northern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team for over 20 years. He was the interim coach for the 2002-03 season and was named the head coach in August 2007.
His international coaching experience includes the World Invitational Meet in Canada (1991) and Russia (1992), the World Games for the Deaf in Bulgaria (1993), Denmark (1997) and Italy (2001).
Laughna was the head coach of the United States Deaf Association National Swim Team for the Pan-America Games, which were held in the fall of 2003 in Argentina.
