MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team presented its team awards on Thursday night (April 17) for the 2007-08 season at its annual banquet.
 
Allison Carroll was the big winner as she hauled in three awards. She walked away with the Most Valuable Player, Rebound and Free throw Awards. Carroll led the Wildcats in scoring (15.0 ppg), rebounding (5.7 rpg), blocked shots (24) and free throw percentage (.765).
 
Kelsey Deacon was given the Playmaker of the Year Award. She was second on the team in scoring (12.3 ppg) and had a team-high 70 assists.
 
The Newcomer of the Year Award was presented to freshman Steffani Stoeger. She led the team with 60 steals and was second on the team in assists with 53. Stoeger averaged 8.3 ppg and 2.3 rpg.
 
Cassie Hegbloom who was second on the team in rebounding (4.4 rpg) was named the recipient of the Defensive Player of the Year Award. 
 
The Coach’s Award was presented to Marquette native and freshman Erin Powers. She averaged 2.0 ppg and 2.8 rpg for the 2007-08 season.
