MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team held its annual team banquet on Thursday night (April 17) to hand out its team awards for the 2007-08 season.
Jake Suardini and Kyle Greene were the big winners on Thursday night. Suardini picked up three while Greene was awarded two awards.
Suardini went home with the Most Valuable Player, Best Free Throw Percentage and the Kip Taylor Leadership and Courage Awards. He led the 2007-08 Wildcats in scoring (15.9 ppg), free throw percentage (.734), assists (79) and steals (50).
Greene picked up the Best Defender and Newcomer of the Year Awards. He led the ‘Cats in rebounds per game (4.7), and had 14 blocked shots and 24 steals.
Tyler Kazmierkoski went home with the Top Rebounder Award. He hauled in a team-high 124 rebounds.
The Sixth Man Award went to Ryan Reichel. He appeared in 17 games during the 2007-08 season and tallied 29 assists and 13 steals.
