Clinic, Chalk Talk and Volleyball Match

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Many activities will take place on Saturday, April 19 as part of the Northern Michigan University volleyball match against Lake Superior State University. Before the match there will be a coaching clinic and a chalk talk session.   The match will then take place.
 
From 9:30-11 a.m. in the Izzo-Mariucci Room which is located between the Berry Events Center and the PEIF, NMU head volleyball coach Dominic Yoder and his staff will conduct a high school volleyball coaches’ clinic. The topic of the clinic will be “Training the technical volleyball player into an offensive or defensive system,” which will focus on individual player skill development with a practical progression into team offensive and/or defensive systems utilizing classroom theory and on-court demonstration. Another topic to be covered at the clinic will be “In season/out of season volleyball player strength and conditioning program”.

Between 1-1:30 p.m. there will be a chalk session in the Izzo-Mariucci Room to go over the new rules, incoming NMU players and a question/answer session with Yoder. 
 
The match between the Wildcats and Lakers will take place at 2 p.m. in Vandament Arena.   NMU and LSSU will play a standard volleyball match. Admission to the event is $5 and tickets can be purchased through the NMU Athletic Department, from any current NMU volleyball player or at the door.
 
Between the second and third game prizes will be given away. Ticket stubs will be collected to put into the drawing which will include a 42-inch plasma television, season tickets to NMU or LSSU volleyball (winner’s choice), an autographed volleyball jersey from either NMU or LSSU (winner’s choice), dinner for two at the Casa Calabria in Marquette or at a restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. (winner’s choice), $30 in GKC Royal Cinema movie bucks and a signed game volleyball from either NMU or LSSU (winner’s choice). No additional purchase will be necessary.
 
Mascots from both schools will also be on hand.
