BOZEMAN, Mont. - After sweeping the medal podium at the 2007 NCAA Championships, the Northern Michigan University women's nordic ski team had high expectations for themselves.  Although two of their three team representatives at the 2008 NCAA Championships were rookies at the event, the 'Cats skied to a second place team finish in the 5k freestyle race on Wednesday, March 5.

Morgan Smyth finished fifth for the 'Cats with a time of 18:01.1 while teammate Laura Dewitt was right behind her with a seventh place finish and a time of 18:06.0.  The third Wildcat in the event was Maria Stuber who finished thirteenth with a time of 18:24.5.

The 'Cats had a team score of 25 which was good for second place as Colorado finished first with 23 team points.  Maria Moe Gravsgaard from Colorado won the event with a time of 17:09.8.
