'Cats Come Out Strong

BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Northern Michigan University men's nordic ski team came out to a strong start in the 10k freestyle race at the NCAA National Championships on Wednesday, March 5.  After the first lap, sophomore Martin Banerud was in 3rd place while teammates Phil Violett and Gus Kaeding were in 12th and 30th, respectively.  After the second 5k lap, Banerud (32:15.8) finished in 16th while Violett (32:30.9) and Kaeding (32.57.6) were 20th and 26th, respectively. 

Glenn Randall from Dartmouth College won the race with a time of 30:37. 3

The 'Cats will race again on Friday, March 7, when they compete in the 30k classic, mass start race.
