FINDLAY, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team is currently in a tie for sixth place with Saginaw Valley State after the first day of competition at the 2008 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships. NMU and SVSU each have 10 points as Grand Valley State is leading on the women’s side with 65 points.
The highlight of the day was the fourth-place finish by the Wildcats in the distance medley relay. Erin VanEnkevort, Maegan Hendershot, Bibiane Mahy and Danielle Stein ran a 12:37.81. Leslie Luehmann with a leap of 17-08.25 placed fifth in the long jump. Michele Bisig with a time of 18:52.21 was eighth in the 5,000-meter run.
The second and final day of competition will be tomorrow (Saturday, March 1) beginning at 11 a.m.
