STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Two members of the Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team competed at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational on Saturday. Two new school records were set along with a NCAA II provisional cut.
Lelie Luehmann won the long jump with a leap of 18-01.50 which was a new NMU record. The jump put her in a position to compete at the NCAA II Indoor Track and Field National Championships with the provisional jump.
Krista Squiers placed sixth in the weight throw with a heave of 48-08.75 which was also a new NMU record.
The whole team will be at the GLIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Findlay later in the week. Action gets underway on Friday (Feb. 29) and concludes on Saturday (March 1).
