LSSU Ends Women's Basketball Season

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team concluded the 2007-08 season on Saturday with a 79-64 loss to the Lake Superior State University Lakers. NMU was down 35-28 at the half.
 
NMU ends the campaign with a 9-17 overall record and a 4-14 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The Lakers, who will play at Michigan Tech on Monday, are now 11-14 and 7-10 respectively.
 
Three players from NMU scored in double-figures. Kelsey Deacon led the way with 19 points. Allison Carroll, playing in her final game as a Wildcat, scored 16 points. Natalie Larocque off the bench added 10 points. LaShawn Lambert also playing in her final game in an NMU uniform had four points and three rebounds. Carroll and Larocque led NMU in rebounds with six each. Daniell Makins led the Lakers with 16 points.
 
NMU was 24-60 from the floor for 40 percent. Deacon led the ‘Cats from the three-point line by going 5-6, as a team NMU was 8-16 (50 percent). The ‘Cats were 8-13 from the free throw line (61.5 percent). LSSU controlled the boards as they out-rebounded NMU 41-28.
