MARQUETTE, Mich. – Four basketball games at the Berry Events Center on Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 19-20) will highlight this week’s Northern Michigan University sports schedule.
Friday (Jan. 18) the NMU track and field team will be competing at the Saginaw Valley State University Collegiate Open at 4 p.m. Down the road from University Center, Mich. the NMU hockey team (9-14-1, 6-10-0 CCHA) will be in Big Rapids, Mich. taking on the Ferris State University Bulldogs in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) showdown. The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m.
The NMU swimming and diving team will plunge back into action after the Christmas break with a meet at St. Norbert on Saturday (Jan. 19). In Marquette that afternoon the men’s (2-13, 2-5 GLIAC) and women’s (7-8, 2-5 GLIAC) basketball teams will be facing Wayne State University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) clash. The women’s game will be first on the court at 1 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 3 p.m. Fox Hills Resort is the game sponsor. That night in Big Rapids the NMU hockey team will be facing off against Ferris State in the second game of the weekend tilt. The game will be televised by College Sports Television (CSTV) at 8 p.m.
After taking last week off the NMU men’s and women’s Nordic ski teams will be back in action. They will be skating at the SuperTour event in Coleraine, Minn. on Saturday (Jan. 19) and Sunday (Jan. 20).
Two more GLIAC basketball games at the Berry Events Center on Sunday (Jan. 20) against Hillsdale College will wrap up the weekend. The women’s game will tip-off at 2 p.m. and will be followed by the men’s game at 4 p.m.
