Hockey Has Two Home Games This Week

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University hockey team (9-12-1, 6-10-0 CCHA) will host Wayne State University of College Hockey America (CHA) in a non-conference series this weekend (Jan. 11-12) for the only home games on the schedule. The puck will drop both nights at 7:35 p.m.
 
There will be a Blue Line Luncheon on Friday (Jan. 11) at 12 p.m., which is open to the public, in the University Center to preview the series against the Warriors.   The cost of the luncheon is $7.75 per person. NMU head coach Walt Kyle and WSU head coach Bill Wilkinson are scheduled to speak. Also selected Wildcats will appear.   Friday there will be a “Chalk Talk” in the Wildcat Room at 7 p.m. Before Saturday’s game (Jan. 12) the second set of trading cards will be given out.
 
Both basketball teams are back in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play this week on the road. The men’s (1-12, 1-4 GLIAC) and women’s (6-7, 1-4 GLIAC) teams are at Saginaw Valley State on Thursday (Jan. 10) and Northwood on Saturday (Jan. 12).  Thursday’s games are set for 6 and 8 p.m. On Saturday the times are 1 and 3 p.m.
