LEXINGTON, Ky. – Brittany McGowan continues to add to her post-season collection. She was named to the 2007 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Team as an honorable mention selection. The senior setter is the 22nd NMU volleyball player to be named to the AVCA All-America Team. McGowan led the 2007 Wildcats to a 20-12 overall record and a 13-5 slate in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) which was good for a second place finish in the GLIAC North.
Earlier in the week, McGowan was named to the AVCA All-Great Lakes Region Team. The Naperville, Ill. product was also named to the All-GLIAC Team as a first team selection after the 2007 regular season.
McGowan led the Wildcats with 1,338 assists for the 2007 season, which ranked her sixth in the GLIAC (10.97 a/g). For her NMU career, McGowan had 3,593 assists (9.03 a/g) which placed her fourth on the all-time list. She was named the MVP of Alamo City Classic during the 2006 season as she averaged 23 assists in the four wins. McGowan is a two-time selection to the All-GLIAC academic team.
For the recently competed season she also had 145 kills, 37 service aces, 303 digs, two block solos and 33 block assists for 35 total blocks. McGowan ended her NMU career with 280 kills, 135 service aces, 978 digs, two block solos, 60 block assists and 62 total blocks.
