LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior setter, Brittany McGowan has been selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Great Lakes Region Team. The Naperville, Ill. product was recently named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Team as a first team selection. “Brittany was the leader of the team. She set the offense to run the team,” said Dominic Yoder, the head volleyball coach at Northern Michigan University, said. “The success we had was a result of Brittany’s play. She will be sadly missed.”
McGowan led the Wildcats with 1,338 assists for the 2007 season, which ranked her sixth in the GLIAC (10.97 a/g). For her NMU career, McGowan had 3,593 assists (9.03 a/g) which placed her fourth on the all-time list. She was named the MVP of Alamo City Classic during the 2006 season as she averaged 23 assists in the four wins. McGowan is a two-time selection to the All-GLIAC academic team.
For the recently competed season she also had 145 kills, 37 service aces, 303 digs, two block solos and 33 block assists for 35 total blocks. McGowan ended her NMU career with 280 kills, 135 service aces, 978 digs, two block solos, 60 block assists and 62 total blocks.
