BAY CITY, Mich. – Two Northern Michigan University volleyball players were named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Volleyball Team as first team selections. Senior setter Brittany McGowan and junior middle hitter Caryn VanBeckum were selected by the league’s head coaches. Breanne Zaremba was selected to the team as an honorable mention selection.
McGowan from Naperville, Ill. led the Wildcats with 1,338 assists. She ranked sixth in the GLIAC in assists by averaging 10.97 a/g. McGowan also had 37 service aces, 33 block assists and 35 total blocks.
VanBeckum from DePere, Wis. led the ‘Cats with 426 kills, 51 service aces, 19 block solos, 99 block assists, 118 total blocks and 545.5 points. In the GLIAC, VanBeckum was eighth in kills (3.49 k/g) and sixth in points (4.47 p/g). She was also a two-time GLIAC North Division Player of the Week and the AVCA National Player of the Week during the season.
Zaremba from Milwaukee, Wis. had 32 service aces, 414 digs and 26 block assists for the season.
