BAY CITY, Mich. – For the second week in a row, Caryn VanBeckum has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week for volleyball. The junior middle hitter from DePere, Wis. led Northern Michigan University to a GLIAC road sweep last weekend, including wins over Saginaw Valley State and Northwood.
She helped the Wildcats solidify their second-place position in the North Division with a 3-2 win over SVSU on Friday, tallying 23 kills, four total blocks and three service aces while hitting at a .391 clip. On Saturday, VanBeckum tallied 18 kills while hitting .500 percent with four digs and four blocks in the win over the Timberwolves. The reigning AVCA National Player of the Week averaged 5.12 kills per game in the two wins while hitting .432 percent.
