DULUTH, Minn. – The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team picked up its ninth win of the season on Sunday at UM-Duluth in a non-conference match by a score of 1-0. All of NMU’s wins this season so far have been shutouts. The Wildcats improve to 9-3-2 overall on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 5-6-1.
The lone goal of the afternoon turned out to be the game-winner. Joanna Kiilunen scored her second goal of the season at 7:42 with a little help from Amanda Gadomski. NMU had six shots for the match as four were on-target. UM-D had nine shots with six on-goal.
Kara Music played the entire 90 minutes in front of the net for her 13th career shutout as she turned away six shots. She currently has four shutouts for the season with a 0.58 goal-against average and a .889 save-percentage.
Corner kicks were even as both sides had three each.
NMU will be home next weekend (Oct. 19 and 21) when they will be back in conference play. Friday (Oct. 19) the ‘Cats host Ferris State before tangling with Grand Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 21).
