ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Once again the Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team was involved in another shutout. This time the Wildcats were on the winning side of the 1-0 score in overtime against St. Cloud State University in a non-conference game on Friday night. All eight of NMU’s wins this season have been via the shutout. The ‘Cats are now 8-3-2 overall on the season while SCSU falls to 4-7-1.
Dana Stephens scored the game-winner at 102:36 of the game on a header off a corner kick. The goal was her third of the season. Renee LeBlanc and Brittney Buchanan assisted on the goal.
Kara Music picked up her ninth shutout of the season. She had four saves for the game. Elizabeth Kelly for SCSU had six saves. NMU was on the short end of the shot count as the home team had the slight edge at 13-11. The ‘Cats did have four corner kicks to three for the Huskies.
NMU will face UM-Duluth on Sunday (Oct. 14).
