PRINCETON, N.J. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team will participate in the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic. The tournament was initially established in 2001 as the Guardians Classic, in partnership with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The event is now named after the College Basketball Experience (CBE), a college hoops fan interactive facility that is scheduled to open this year, as part of the Hall of Fame.
This year’s event will tip-off Nov. 11-14 at four regional sites and will culminate with the winner of each regional advancing to the championship rounds.
NMU will play in the East Lansing Regional at the Breslin Center on Nov. 13-14. The Wildcats will face Louisiana-Monroe while Michigan State will take on Chicago State in the other game with the winners advancing to the championship game on Nov. 14.
The other regional sites are College Park, Md. (North Florida, Maryland, Hampton and Tulsa); Los Angeles, Calif. (Youngstown State, UCLA, Cal State San Bernardino and Weber State); and Columbia, Mo. (Central Michigan, Missouri, Central Missouri and Fordham). The championship rounds will be held at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. on Nov. 19-20.
