MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team wasted little time in defeating the Northwood Timberwolves on Saturday. NMU scored a goal 31 seconds into the game by Amanda Gadomski as the Wildcats cruised to a 6-0 win for the team's sixth shutout of the season. With the win NMU is now 5-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) while the Timberwolves fall to 1-7-0 and 0-3-2 respectively.
After the first 45 minutes of play the ‘Cats enjoyed a 5-0 lead. Scoring the second goal for NMU was Renee LeBlanc at 7:58 on a penalty kick. Brittney Buchanan scored the next two goals to give NMU 4-0 lead. Her goals came at 13:19 and 34:41. LeBlanc assisted on Buchanan’s second goal. The final goal of the half came off the foot of Michaela Harris at 43:07.
Jamie Beebe scored the lone goal in the season half at 60:11. Kara Music and Dana Bush combined for the shutout.
The ‘Cats will not have much time to rest as they will face Saginaw Valley at noon on Sunday, Sept. 23.
