PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team won its fourth match in a row with a three-game win (30-24, 30-18, 30-16) over Southern Arkansas, Friday at the Argonaut Regional Crossover Tournament. NMU improves to 4-5 on the season while SAU falls to 3-4.
Caryn VanBeckum led the ‘Cats with 15 kills in 28 total attempts. She had a hitting percentage of .393. VanBeckum chipped in with one block solo and four block assists. Katt Garvick ended the match with eight kills, three digs and two block assists. NMU as a team had 43 kills in 140 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .129.
“I thought that we played alright,” said Dominic Yoder. “The first match is out of the way. We played consistent enough to win.”
Brittany McGowan again led the ‘Cats with 32 assists. She also had six digs, one block solo and one block assist. Cassie Osiecki had a team-high 13 digs. Megan Elliott added 10 digs in the win.
NMU will face Rollins College and Alabama-Huntsville at the tournament tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 8)
