BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team ran its record to a perfect 2-0 on Sunday with a 3-0 win over UM-Crookston (0-2-0). With the win the team captured the Holiday Inn Express Tournament. Also for the second match in a row the Wildcats used two goalkeepers for the shutout. Kara Music played almost 77 minutes in front of the net and had all four saves for the game. Dana Bush played a little over 13 minutes in goal.
Ashley DeKeyser got the ‘Cats on the board with a goal at 37:42. Renee LeBlanc made the count 2-0 with a score at 51:34. NMU’s final goal of the game came at 72:37 from the foot of Abigail Debiak. All three goals were unassisted.
For the game, NMU recorded 31 shots as 16 were on target. Crookston had six shots for the game with four being on-goal. Seven of the eight corner kicks were registered in the first half for the ‘Cats. UM-C’s two corner kicks for the afternoon were both in the first half.
NMU will be in action again on Monday, Sept. 3 for its home opener against Lewis University at 1 p.m.
