Wildcats Currently In Fifth Place

MIDLAND, Mich. The Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team after the first day of competition at the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships currently sit in fifth place with 14.50 points.  The event will conclude tomorrow (Friday) at Northwood University.  Grand Valley State leads the women’s team race with 87 points.

 

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Brittney Coehoorn finished sixth with a clocking of 12:02.90.  Danielle Stein placed seventh in the 10,000 with a time of 39:17.97 to pick up team points for the Wildcats. 

 

In the triple jump the ‘Cats had three scoring points.  Kristin Carnel (35-04.00) led the way with a sixth-place showing next was Leslie Luehmann (35-03.25)  in seventh and Danielle St. Onge (34-09.00) tied for eighth.   Krista Squiers (110-11.00) placed fifth in the javelin.

 

A number of NMU runners qualified on Thursday for their respective finals on Friday, St. Onge qualified for the finals of the 100.  Stephanie Ostrenga qualified fourth in the 800.  Brooke Rediger qualified for the 1,500 finals.
