MARQUETTE, Mich. – Dean Ellis, the head men’s basketball coach at Northern Michigan University, announces the signing of Jared Benson to a National Letter of Intent to attend NMU and play basketball for the Wildcats.
“I am excited to have Jared join the program,” Dan Waterman, the assistant men’s basketball coach at NMU, said. “What he brings to the table is amazing considering his height. He has exceptional skills for being 6-10.”
Benson (6-10) center from Carney, Mich. and Carney-Nadeau High School led his team to a 17-4 record for the 2006-07 season and the Central U.P. Conference Championship. He averaged 18.0 ppg and 12.5 rpg for the past season.
