Ricky Volcy Named GLIAC Player of the Year
BAY CITY, Mich. – Ricky Volcy (F, 6-8, Sr., Montreal, Quebec) was named the 2006-07 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men’s basketball Player of the Year. He was also named to the GLIAC North Division All-Conference First Team for the third time and to the GLIAC North Division All-Defensive Team. Joining Volcy on the all-conference team was teammate Will Washington as a second-team selection.
Volcy currently leads the conference in rebounds (9.7 per game) and blocked shots (2.81), ranks second in scoring (22.3) and is fourth in steals ( 1.89). He has recorded 15 double-doubles this campaign and had 10 games in which he scored 30 or more points. Volcy currently sits in third place on the NMU career scoring list with 2,010 points. He leads the Wildcats in points, rebounds, field goals made (205), free throws made (132), blocks (76) and steals (51) this season.
Washington (G, 6-0, Sr., Chicago, Ill.) leads the GLIAC in three-pointers made (3.68). He is second on the team with 397 points (14.2) and third in steals (33).
