ASHLAND, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team finished in eighth place with 231.50 points at the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Swimming and Diving Championships. Wayne State won the women’s title with 739.50 points.
The final day of swimming saw Sarah Cempel swim a 10:53.35 in the 1,000-yard freestyle which was good for ninth place. Teammate, Sarah Dobratz swam a 10:59.10 in the event which was good for 12th in the event.
Dobratz (2:13.83) came back in the evening’s session to place eighth in the 200 backstroke. Mimi Marschall (55.09) swimming in the B-Final placed 12th overall in the 100 freestyle. Megan Gerou (2:35.39) and Joanna Pollack (2:36.95) were 13th and 16th respectively in the 200 breaststroke.
Courtney Lowry (2:18.10) was 13th in the 200 butterfly. The final event of the championships was the 400 freestyle relay. Dobratz, Emily Olson, Sarah Van Oss and Marschall swam a 3:45.94 which was good for eighth place.
