HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team capped off the 2006-07 season with a 57-50 loss to Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats were down by 10 points at the half (28-18), but out-scored the Huskies in the second half (32-29).
NMU concludes the season with an overall record of 9-18 and 5-13 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). NMU had a three win improvement in its overall and conference records from last year. MTU improves to 18-8 and 12-6 respectively.
Allison Carroll was the lone ‘Cat in double-figures for the game. She ended the game with 14 points. Carroll made a lay-up with 2:40 left in the game to cut the Huskies lead to one point (51-50). MTU went on a 6-0 run all from the line to close out the game.
Jenna Bartels led the Huskies with 19 points. Cassi Rushford had a game-high seven rebounds.
The ‘Cats shot 35.6 percent from the floor (16-45). From the arc the team was 5-14 for 35.7 percent. NMU missed three free throws for the game in 16 attempts for 81.3 percent. MTU won the battle off the glass with a five-rebound edge (34-29).
