'Cats Hosting CCSA Regionals

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University nordic skiing Wildcats will host the Central Collegiate Skiing Regional Championships on Saturday (Feb. 17) and Sunday (Feb. 18). The event will take place at Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming, Mich. 
 
On Saturday (Feb. 17) the men will compete in the 10K freestyle at 9:30 a.m. with the women following in their 5K freestyle at 11 a.m. On Sunday the women will open the competition with a 10K classic race at 9:30 a.m. with the men following with their 15K classic race at 11 a.m.
 
Over 130 athletes from 12 different collegiate teams will be competing in this United States Ski and Snowboard Association sanctioned event as the races serve as the qualifying event for the NCAA Championships. Competing schools are University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Finlandia University, Gustavus Adolphus College, Michigan Tech University, Northern Michigan University, Northland College, Saint Cloud State, College of Saint Benedict, Saint John’s University, Saint Olaf College, College of Saint Scholastica, and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
