Northern Michigan University goaltender Kara Music was named to the NCSAA/Adidas Women’s Soccer Great Lakers Regional Second Team. Music, a freshman from Whitehouse, Ohio, was the starting goalie the ‘Cats in the 2006 season and helped to lead the ‘Cats to their best finish in school history, 16-2 overall and 6-2 in the GLIAC. “I’m not surprise that Kara was chosen, I knew recruiting that she was good and then she came in here, played for us, and proved herself,” commented NMU head coach Matt Granstrand.
Music ended the 2006 season with over 1,400 minutes played in 17 games. Only 14 goals were scored against Music, averaging just 0.85 goals against per game while boasting a saves-percentage of .868. On the year Music was 15-2 and had nine shutouts. “Kara’s award is great for our program, it says a lot about how we did this season,” added Granstrand.
