Council on Social Work Education Accreditation Review

BSW Program Director, Tim Hilton reports that the social work program has submitted an extensive program self-study to the Council on Social Work Education in preparation for a reaffirmation of accreditation by CSWE. The social work program has been continuously accredited by CSWE since 1974.

Anthropology News

Dr. Alex Ruuska, cultural anthropologist has been awarded tenure and promotion to Associate Professor. In addition to teaching, Dr. Ruuska has contributed to revitalizing the anthropology program at NMU and maintains an active research agenda.

Rural Homelessness Research

Dr. Tim Hilton, and Dr. Deanna Trella are continuing their work on a $9000 grant from the Center for Rural Community and Economic Development to study the family context of homelessness in the Upper Peninsula. (This collaborative project is an extension of research by Hilton and Cornell Dejong.) Read more here.
