Loukinen Documentary Update

Sociologist Michael Loukinen completed a significant documentary film titled Ojibwe Drum Songs. Read about his latest endeavor: a proposed documentary on the rise and usage of "YOOPER" from a derisive label to term of pride.

Carr Serves as Adjunct Instructor

Student Research Experience

Some are investigating rural homelessness with social work faculty Tim Hilton and Cornell DeJong. Several students are assisting anthropologist Alex Carroll on Yellow Dog Plains and Native American projects.

Balaev Earns Doctorate
Mikhail Balaev joined the department as an instructor of Sociology and will become an assistant professor upon officially receiving his Ph.D. Mikhail's specialties are quantitative methods, globalization and social organization.
