Blanket Purchase Orders

In some instances, the most appropriate purchase method is a "blanket" purchase order, as when a department requires a variety of office supplies with a relatively low total dollar value. In these cases, an order will be issued, usually hand carried by department personnel with a dollar amount that cannot be exceeded. The blanket purchase order is good only for a specified period of time and product category. The vendor should be certain to have the person picking up the goods sign an itemized receipt in case any questions arise in billing.
