Motorist Assistance Program
Public Safety provides a free motorist assistance program for students, staff, and visitors on campus. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. CALL 227-2151 On-campus services provided:
Jump Starts – We will jump your vehicle.
Vehicle Unlocks – If you lock your keys in your vehicle we will attempt to unlock it.
Gas Transports – We will provide you with a gas can and drive you to the nearest gas station so you can purchase gas.
- Tire Inflates – We will put air in your vehicle or bicycle tire and/or ASSIST you in changing the flat.
- There are numerous other services we provide. If you have another problem call and ask. We may be able to assist you.
The Blue Light emergency phones may also be used to contact Public Safety.
When calling for service, please provide your name, license plate number, make, model and color of vehicle, location of vehicle and service needed. Raise the hood of your vehicle, if possible, and stay near your vehicle until assistance arrives. Motorist Assistance calls will be responded to by a fully marked University vehicle (MAP on the side) or a Public Safety police cruiser. Prior to any service being completed, you will be required to sign a release of liability form and show your student ID or drivers license.The NMU Public Safety Department and MAP program also provide escorts on campus.
