Police Services

Police LineNorthern Michigan University Public Safety and Police Services is made up of two units that oversee five primary tasks: general public safety practices, crime prevention, crime investigation, employee safety and police training.

The Police Services branch of the organization is charged with preventing crime and investigating crime when it takes place on the NMU campus.

A major component of the Police Services duties is compliance with the federal Clery Act, which requires all colleges and universities receiving federal aid to make information about crimes on their campuses available to the general public.  To do so, NMU Police Services operates daily and monthly Web logs of its activities.
