Each year, the political science and public administration department recognizes two outstanding graduates; one who is a graduate student and one who is a graduating senior. The spring 2013 award winners are as follows:
Outstanding graduate student, Megan DelBello
Megan received her bachelor’s degree in political science in 2005 from NMU and earned an additional bachelor's in entertainment and sports promotion in 2007. She completed her master of public administration degree in December 2012. Megan began her career in higher education as a hall director for the Housing and Residence Life Office at NMU in 2007 and in 2009 began working with the McNair Scholars Program as their program coordinator. Recently, Megan transitioned to the Academic and Career Advisement office in the Jacobetti Center. During her time at NMU, Megan has served as a mentor to the Student Leader Fellowship Program and is a member of the Superior Edge Advisory Board.
Outstanding graduating senior, Rose Frankowski
Rose is originally from Minneapolis and is graduating from Northern with lower division honors after double-majoring in political science and Spanish, and minoring in history. During her time at Northern she has worked on midterm and presidential election campaigns, run two student organizations: Amnesty International and NMU Students for Barack Obama, been a member of College Democrats and represented the NMU women's ski team on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She has also competed on the NMU omen’s Nordic ski team on regional and national levels (and served as captain) and with the cross country team. Next year Rose plans to continue her education at Northern as a candidate for a Master's in public administration.
