Three experts participated in a panel discussion titled "Great Lakes Symposium: Politics and Policy of Protecting the Great Lakes." The Student Law Forum is a group designed for those interested in the field of law and legal procedures. They hold mock trials, hold monthly breakfasts to network with attorneys and prepare students for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). They have toured schools such as Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan State University and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

College Democrats and Republicans

Students involved in the College Republicans and College Democrats have had the opportunity to work on campaigns directly with the party and the local and state level and have even been known to hold positions as officers at the county-wide level. 

 

Take the pre-law path
Jocelyn BensonIn addition to a pre-law major, there is a  pre-law minor that prepares those interested in attending law school. Regardless of academic program, perspective or current students can contact the department for advising on law school preparation.

 

Washington Internships

The Washington, D.C. Internship Program through NMU allows students to spend a semester or summer learning in a hands-on environment. Interns work 4 1/2 days per week and get a half day for networking with professionals around the nation's capitol. 

 

New U.P. Data Available

The Center for Rural Community and Economic Development, in conjunction with the Political Science and Public Administration Department, has released new economic and government data for all U.P. counties. The report gives details on everything from employment, climate, education and recreation. Visit the Rural Center website for information.
