Wildcat Weekend Activities
 

NMU’s Physical Education and Instruction Facility and Indoor Rock Climbing Wall

Location:  Physical Education and Instruction Facility, located between the Superior Dome and the Berry Events Center

Time:  Friday, Saturday and Sunday all day, rock climbing is open from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday

Price:  Free!

 

More commonly called the “PEIF” (rhymes with “beef”), this facility offers an indoor climbing wall, weight room, cardiovascular area, basketball courts, racquetball courts, swimming pool, and dance studios.  You can use the facility for free anytime on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  Just check in at the information desk and let the worker know you’re visiting for Wildcat Weekend. 


Andrew Ranville: No Island is a Man Exhibition

Location:  DeVos Art Museum, located in NMU's Art and Design Building

Time:  Friday, 10:00am-5:00pm;  Saturday, 1:00pm-4:00pm

Price:  Free

 

After spending over a month on Rabbit Island last summer, Michigan born and London-based artist Andrew Ranville will return to Rabbit Island to become the first official artist in residence, creating work for the exhibition at the Devos Art Museum. The exhibition will contain photography, video, sculpture and sound recordings made by Ranville, giving a feel for what it might be like to spend an extended time on the island.

Football Game vs. Ferris State University

Location:  Superior Dome

Time:  Saturday 1:00pm

Price:   Free

 

Cheer on NMU's Football Team as they play against Ferris Sate University in the World's Largest Wooden Dome. With these two teams, it's bound to be a great game. You can pick up your tickets on Saturday during the Wildcat Weekend program.


Women's Basketball Game vs. Davenport

Location: Berry Events Center

Time: Saturday 6:00pm

Price: $7 for adults, $5 for students

 

Check out NMU's Basketball team as they take charge against Davenport. Plus, the game is located in the Berry Events Center, which is where NMU's Division I Hockey team plays as well. See if you can tell that the ice is below the basketball court.


Women's Volleyball vs. Lake Superior State

Location: Vandament Arena

Time: Saturday 4:00pm

Price: $7 for adults, $5 for students

 

Watch the excitement of NMU's Women's Volleyball team as they take on Lake Superior State in NMU's Vandament Arena.


 

Men's Club Hockey vs. University of Minnesota Duluth

Location: Berry Events Center

Time: Saturday 3:30pm

Price: Free

 

Although NMU's division I Hockey team is out of town, there is plenty of hockey to be watched with NMU's Club Hockey team. Check them out as they skate against University of Minnesota Duluth.


Marquette Regional History Museum

Location: 145 West Spring Street, Marquette

Time: Friday, 10:00am-5:00pm; Saturday, 10:00am-3:00pm

Price: $7.00 adults; $3 students

 

The Marquette History Museum is the oldest Historical Society in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The museum features a collection that includes artifacts from the prehistoric copper culture through current times. Each year, visitors from all over the world come to use the Research Library and view the museum's exhibitions gallery.

 

Downtown WinterMarket

Location:  112 S. 3rd Street, Marquette, MI 49855

Time:  Saturday 10:00am-2:00pm

Price:  Free to walk around

 

Though the regular Downtown Marquette Farmers & Artists Market season is over, a limited Winter Market is open through December 17th at the Marquette Commons. Vendors will have fresh foods and artwork available for sale during the holiday season.

Marquette Country Points of Interest
