2014 WEIGHTLIFTING NATIONAL CAMP INFORMATION
Housing: Camp participants will be housed on the Olympic floor of Meyland hall. Bed linen and towels are provided for each guest. Each room also has a small refrigerator. The floor includes two t.v. rooms, two meeting rooms and two sun rooms. The NMU campus is a tobacco and alcohol free campus.
Check-In: Check in is at the Meyland Hall lobby. The desk hours are 12 – 3pm and 6 – 8pm. If you are arriving outside of those hours a number will be posted for you to call and our building staff will assist you. You will be issued a room key and a meal card. Your meal card also gives you access to the outside doors after hours. If you have not paid yet, please be prepared to pay at this time. We can accept cash, checks and credit cards(mastercard, visa, discover).
Airport Shuttle: Shuttles to and from the Marquette’s Sawyer International Airport are provided at no charge. Request for a shuttle must be submitted no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, July 25.
Welcome Meeting: A welcome meeting will be held in the Meyland lobby at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 27. During this meeting you will be assigned lifting times for the camp. A detailed schedule will also be shared during this meeting. If you cannot attend, please attend the first practice at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 28 in the Superior Dome.
What to expect: The NMU Olympic Training Site is located in the Superior Dome, most practices will take place on the dome floor or in the platform room. Activities outside training such as hiking, games and going to the beach will be offered but are not mandatory. Supervision on the Olympic floor of Meyland hall will be provided by two Resident Life Coordinators who live on the floor. Resident athletes will assist coach Newgard with camp activities.
What to bring: Bring your lifting shoes, workout gear, swimwear for the beach or cold tubs. A light jacket is also reccomended.
