MARQUETTE, Mich.— United States Olympic Training Site weightlifter James Fox has been selected as the NMU Scholar-Athlete for the month of February by the NMU Athletic Council.
Fox, of Hinesville, Ga., is an athletic training major and pursuing a minor in biology and chemistry. He was nominated for the award by NMU professor and Program Director of Athletic Training Education Julie Rochester.
“I have had the distinct pleasure of having James in several of my courses, as he is and has been, very successfully progressing through the undergraduate major in athletic training,” Rochester said. “In each of these courses, James has been an academic standout, often setting the curve for many of his peers.”
“I am honored to be selected for this recognition,” said Fox. “I’m grateful to be a part of the athletic training program and to be a member of the Olympic Training Site weightlifting team.”
Fox is a senior at NMU and finished last semester with a 3.94 GPA, earning himself a spot on the Dean’s List for the seventh time. After graduating in May he plans to attend medical school.
