MARQUETTE, Mich.—Two United States Olympic Education Center Greco-Roman wrestlers will be donning caps and gowns on Saturday, Dec. 15, to receive their diplomas during Northern Michigan University’s commencement ceremony.

Brothers Corey and Ryan Hope of Carol Stream, Ill., will earn degrees in exercise science and community health education, respectively.

The brothers chose to attend NMU because of its unique offerings.

“NMU is a perfect fit. We are grateful that we were able to pursue an Olympic dream in Greco-Roman wrestling and have the opportunity to receive a degree,” said Corey.

The brothers have also made an impact in the local community during their stay in Marquette. For the past four years, they have coached the NMU Angry Fish Wrestling Club and have held wrestling clinics for local high school athletes.

Their coaching opportunities are something they will always carry with them.

“I have been privileged to work with youth wrestlers in the Upper Peninsula,” said Ryan. “The experience I gained is something that I am extremely grateful for. My brother and I will never forget the athletes and parents we worked with.”

The next step for the brothers will be a five-month stay in Armenia to continue their training and to receive more international experience.
