MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Northern Michigan University Nordic ski teams wrapped up the Tour de Twin Cities SuperTour on Sunday (Jan. 20) with the mass start classic races at Wirth Park.

Freshman Sam Elfstrom won the 10-kilometer junior race with a time of 25:32.2.

Junior Jordyn Ross had an 11th place overall finish in 48:41.3 in the women’s 15K race. Freshmen Mary Kate Cirelli and Hannah Boyer finished 17th and 18th while junior Rosie Frankowski was two spots back in 20th.

Sophomore Elizabeth Simak (29th) and Junior Karmen Whitham (46th) wrapped up the women’s skiers for Northern.

Senior Chris Bowler was the top men’s skier, finishing 18th overall with a time of 40:30.8. Junior George Cartwright was 12 seconds and six spots back in 24th while junior Erik Soderman was 26th.

Junior Ben Hugus (46th) also raced for NMU.

Northern heads to Duluth, Minn. to race at the NCAA qualifier at Giants Ridge next weekend (Jan. 26-27).
