Earning a bronze medal in the 62-kg weight class was Ryan Borges of Bradenton, Fla. Borges lifted 98 kg in the snatch and 120 kg in the clean and jerk for a 218-kg total for the day.
McCoy, who has not competed on a national stage in over a year due to an injury, was pleased with her results.
“I felt strong and fast going into the competition,” said McCoy. “Coach (Vance) Newgard prepared me well. Taking first place is a confidence booster. I’m looking forward to being able to compete at more national events and raising my overall rankings.”
