MARQUETTE – The United States Olympic Education Center is hosting a Greco-Roman competition Wednesday, March 16 at Westwood High School in Ishpeming, Mich.

The event will feature wrestlers from the USOEC, U.S. Marines and Japan. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will follow a two-team competition format.

This friendly competition is just a few weeks prior to the U.S. Open Nationals, which are scheduled for April 7-9.

“We get the best of both worlds: competing in front of the community and sharpening our skills before nationals. The guys are really excited,” said coach Rob Hermann.

While it is only a one-night event, the visiting athletes will stay in town to train at the USOEC. Two Japanese wrestlers will train with the USOEC athletes March 13-27 and the U.S. Marines will train March 14-25.

The event is open to the public and admission is free.
