Refund Policy

If you pay your orientation fee(s) and then decide to withdraw from or delay attendance at NMU, notify the Admissions Office immediately. If you do so by the appropriate deadline, we will send you any refund for which you are eligible. See information below.

Student Program Fee ($126)

If we are notified by the appropriate deadline above, you will receive a partial refund of $35 of the student program fee.

Parent/Guest Program Fee ($50 / +$20 additional persons)

The parent/guest program fee is non-refundable after May 1st.

Orientation Accommodations Fee

The accommodations fee, which includes housing and meals during orientation, is 100 percent refundable before the registered Orientation date.

Online Orientation ($75)

You are NOT eligible for a refund if you have completed the Online Orientation and your Orientation Hold has been lifted.  If you did not complete the Online Orientation you are eligible for a full refund up to 1 year after registering for the Online Orientation.  If you are signed up for an in-person session and switch to the Online Orientation the refunds for the Parent/Guest Fee and Accommodations Fee follow the refund policy listed above.

Requesting a Refund

All requests for refunds must be in writing. You may request a refund by e-mailing orient@nmu.edu or by mailing your request to New Student Orientation Program, Northern Michigan University, 1401 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette, MI, 49855.
