Director’s Message

Caroline Blair   Welcome to Northern Michigan University. All new freshman and transfer students planning to enroll in courses at NMU are required to participate in the New Student Orientation Program. Students will be able to register for classes once they attend an orientation session.

During your NMU orientation, you will be busy! You will tour and learn about the campus. You will meet faculty and administrators and schedule your courses. You will meet a variety of representatives from various offices who can help you learn what’s available to you at Northern Michigan University. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions about housing and financial aid, dining on campus, finding a job and joining a student organization. We want you to feel at home during your time at NMU and part of making Northern your home-away-from-home starts at orientation.

I encourage you to register for an orientation session as soon as possible as the sessions fill up quickly. Once you have registered for a session, you can expect to hear from us periodically via e-mail or via the U.S. Postal Service if you do not have an e-mail address.

As your session draws near you can visit our Web site to find the information that you will need for getting to your session: directions to check-in, a campus map, an abbreviated schedule and other important information. Contact us if you have any questions or need any other help regarding your orientation experience.

Sincerely,

Caroline "Lina" Blair
Director of Orientation
