Participate in the Cat Packs program & NMU Food Pantry!

Donate any of the following items to Cat Packs or NMU Food Pantry and you will earn your team 20 points. These items will be donated to school children in the area whose families have expressed a need for food during the weekend when their children are not receiving free or reduced meals.

  • Raisins
  • Applesauce cups 
  • Easy Mac cups 
  • Granola bars 
  • Sandwich bags
  • Fruit snacks 

**Food must be dropped off in the Center for Student Enrichment (1205 UC) by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 23.

 

Want a behind-the-scenes experience to WinterFest?

Do you like event planning and love school spirit? Then the Special Events Committee is for you! The Special Events Committee (SEC) is looking for motivated and enthusiastic students to plan Northern's WinterFest and Homecoming. For more information, come to an SEC meeting on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in Conference room B, 1208 University Center, or e-mail sec@nmu.edu

 

Saturday, February 17

6:30 p.m. - WinterFest Formal Dinner

7:30 p.m. - WinterFest Royalty Competition

8:30 p.m. - WinterFest Formal Dance

Explorer Rooms/ Peter White Lounge 

*Semi-Formal dress!

Join us for a fancy WinterFest dinner at 6:30 p.m. You can use a meal swipe or pay $10.25 for your meal.  After dinner, cheer on your fellow Wildcats as they compete for WinterFest Royalty. Then dance the night away at the WinterFest formal. We will have a raffle with prizes from local businesses and University departments, Winterfest swag, and a photo booth. 

 

WinterFest Human Sled Dog Races, Tug-Of-War, and Winter Obstacle Course

Sunday, February 18, 1 p.m.

Join us at the Vandament Arena for a fun afternoon of friendly competition. Help your team make the most creative sled for Human Sled Dog Races, be the strongest team to win the Tug-Of-War competition, and be the fastest team to complete the Winter Obstacle Course. 

Campus Cinema Movie

Sunday, February 18, 6 p.m., Jamrich 1100

Watch a movie on the big screen and win some WinterFest prizes. For every person that comes from your hall/student organization, you will receive 1 point with a maximum of 100 points for WinterFest.

 

WinterFest Open Skate 

Wednesday, February 21, 8-11 p.m.

Lakeview Arena (Next to the YMCA on Fair Ave)

Open Skate features Double Trouble DJs. Skate rentals are $4, but if you have your own skates, it is appreciated if you bring them as supplies are limited. The event is open to NMU and Marquette community members. Stay for as long as you like from 8-11 p.m. 

 

WinterFest Lip Sync Battle

Thursday, February 22, 7 p.m.

Jamrich 1100

Join us for a fun night of performances from residence halls, student organizations, the Hip Hop Dance Crew and Double Trouble DJs. Be one of the first 150 people in line and receive a free WinterFest Cup!

 

Bus to Michigan Tech for the Hockey Game
Saturday, February 24, 3:00 p.m.

Sign up Deadline: Thursday, February 8

We will be providing a free bus ride for NMU students from NMU to Michigan Tech for Saturday's hockey game. The first 100 students to put their name on the list will have a seat. You will only be allowed to sign yourself up (ID is required). Student tickets for the game are $10 each and you must be paid when you sign up. If you sign up to ride the bus, you must buy your tickets with the Special Events Committee. The bus will leave at 3:30 p.m. from the Magers/Meyland, parking lot (Lot #11), and return to Lot #11 around 1 a.m. If you drive to the bus pick-up location, you can leave your car in Lot #11 until we get back, and you won't get a ticket!
