The name The Lightkeeper reflects our desire to illuminate and inspire the unseen talent that Northern Michigan University undergraduates have to offer. We the editors share a passion for well-written, distinctive work. Work like a beam of light in the darkness at sea: vivid, luminous, striking, and - ultimately - enlightening. Our primary goal is to familiarize the talented undergraduate students with the world of publishing that exists beyond college writing. We do this by implementing a real publishing experience within the safe confines of the NMU English Department. We also strive to expose the talents of undergraduate writers at NMU to the rest of the campus and the world, and to positively influence campus culture and literary culture as a whole. |
