Current Organizations

Students for Sustainable LivingThe members of NMU student organizations sponsor almost 300 campus-wide programs and events every year in addition to the hundreds of group activities. These same students volunteer thousands of hours of service annually to local communities. In the process, the student organizations that register at Northern Michigan University every year provide thousands of students with fun, friendships, memories, and educational experiences that cannot be found in the classroom.

Efforts put forth by student organizations are recognized annually at the Leadership Recognition Banquet.

Student Organization: Sailing Team

Description The Sailing Team is for any water enthusiast with or without sailing experience. We teach new members the basics of sailing and teach more experienced sailors how to race in a college level regatta. We hold practice Monday through Thursday 4-6:30 p.m. All regattas are held throughout the Midwest. We sail 420's, Flying Juniors, and Harpoons, on Lake Superior in the fall. Sailors have the opportunity to bring their own Laser to race in single handed regattas. The Sailing Team provides a unique way to actively connect with the natural environment right here in Marquette. Email hafoster@nmu.edu for more information.
