The members of NMU student organizations sponsor almost 300 campus-wide programs and events every year in addition to the hundreds of group activities. These same students volunteer thousands of hours of service annually to local communities. In the process, the student organizations that register at Northern Michigan University every year provide thousands of students with fun, friendships, memories, and educational experiences that cannot be found in the classroom.
Efforts put forth by student organizations are recognized annually at the Leadership Recognition Banquet.

Student Organization: Student Photographic Society
|Description||The Student Photographic Society is a student version of PPA (Professional Photographers of America). We hope to bring together all kinds of photographers from different backgrounds who are eager to learn more about this art form and also hoping to improve their own photography. It allows for people to stay updated on new photo contests and galleries that are open to enter. We also hope to be able to raise money to attend national and local photography conferences. This group is intended for students to get advice and feedback from peers and from the SPS organization, which can enable them to become more prepared to enter the professional photography job market.
