Student Organization: Relay For Life

Description Each year NMU hosts a Relay for Life event in March. Relay for Life is American Cancer Society's signature event that is put on by colleges and communities throughout the nation. The main goals of Relay for Life are to raise funds for the fight against cancer and promote awareness for cancer. NMU hosted its first Relay for Life event in 2005. Each year, the planning committee works hard to make the event bigger and better. NMU's Relay is one of the few collegiate relays that are 24-hours long. Our event features ceremonies to honor Survivors, Caregivers, and those that are no longer with us because of cancer. There is plenty of entertainment for the 24-hour long event. You will find basketball and dodge ball tournaments, food, music, and a lot more. Each team that signs up also has a table at the event to fundraise. Some teams sell baked goods or crafts, others offer different types of games or entertainment. The NMU Relay for Life committee is always looking for survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and participants to take part in our event. We are also open to those who have participated in Relay before who are interested in joining committee to help plan our event. For more information, email, visit or check us out on Facebook at
