The members of NMU student organizations sponsor almost 300 campus-wide programs and events every year in addition to the hundreds of group activities. These same students volunteer thousands of hours of service annually to local communities. In the process, the student organizations that register at Northern Michigan University every year provide thousands of students with fun, friendships, memories, and educational experiences that cannot be found in the classroom.
Efforts put forth by student organizations are recognized annually at the Leadership Recognition Banquet.

Student Organization: Women's Rugby Club
|Description||The Women's Rugby Club (the North Stars) was established in 1994. The North Stars play throughout Michigan and Wisconsin. Five to seven games are played in the fall, and three to four games are played in the spring. The North Stars are active in the community as well. Volunteering at the blood drive, health fair, U.P. 200 Dog Sled Race, Make a Difference Day, Homecoming, and WinterFest brings the team together off of the field. Rugby's success results in part from it being a sport that provides a place for everyone. Anyone who wishes to play can find a position on our team at a level where their abilities will be tested. Rugby is a way of life to those who know and love it. Whenever it is played, at all levels, rugby remains unsullied by professionalism. Our team motto is, "You practice, you play." Give it a try!
